o achieve the impossible, have a goal that is bigger than you. Giving up is not in the blood. This video is dedicated to one of the greatest mountaineering climbers to ever live, Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja.
"I don't think most people understand the difference between being alive and living the life." - Nirmal Purja
Nims Purja was a husband, father, son, brother, friend, special forces veteran, and a leader who inspired millions through his courage, humility and relentless determination. In 2019, he climbed all 14 eight-thousanders – peaks above 8,000 metres or 26,000 feet – in six months and six days with the aid of bottled oxygen (a record that stood for 4 years), and gained international recognition through his Netflix Documentary, Nothing Is Impossible. He continues to hold the record for the fastest ascent of all eight-thousanders without supplementary oxygen at two years and 150 days. He was the first person to reach the summits of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu within 48 hours. In 2021, he and a team of nine other Nepalese climbers completed the first winter ascent of K2. Considered one of the most accomplished climbers of his generation, Purja is widely regarded as a major figure in modern high-altitude mountaineering. Rest in peace Nims, thank you for being an inspiration to millions around the world.
We had the great fortune of interviewing Nims in 2025. The Motiversity team is thinking of him and his family.
