Shemiele grew up in Jamaica, immigrated to the United States in sixth grade, and became the first in her family to pursue medical school. She didn't know the MCAT existed until she was nearly done with her two concurrent bachelor's degrees. Despite all of it, she earned a medical school acceptance in Florida and is now a third-year medical student who mentors others going through the same process.
