We just finished a big Avatar: The Last Airbender Rewatch at the From the Spirit World podcast and I have some takeaways that were different than I thought about Avatar going in!
- 00:00 – Intro
- 00:47 – Avatar does hold up and is still one of the all-time greats
- 02:11 – Book 1 has incredible worldbuilding
- 03:29 – Book 2 is amazing even before Ba Sing Se
- 04:21 – Revisiting Book 3 was wild
- 06:12 – In 2026 the episodes do feel short
- 07:33 – Katara is an incredible, fascinating, and inconsistent character
- 08:30 – Kataang is actually really well done
- 09:50 – Avatar takes the easy way out morally
- 11:07 – Avatar is very blunt
- 11:44 – Avatar is better episodically than serialized
- 12:38 – Ending
