Welcome back to Off Track, the space where I speak unscripted, unfiltered and straight from the heart. No guests, no scripts, just honest reflections shaped by real conversations and real life.
This week, I reflect on my conversation with Farnoush Hamidian, an Iranian model whose story goes far beyond fashion. What began as a conversation about beauty and identity became something deeper, about freedom, trauma and the courage it takes to find your voice.
Here are the three insights behind this episode.
1️⃣ Freedom Is Defined by Experience
Freedom means different things depending on where you come from and what you’ve lived through.
For some, it’s about opportunity or expression. For others, it’s something far more basic, the freedom to speak, choose, or pursue a life on their own terms.
Farnoush described freedom as simply being able to walk down a catwalk. A reminder that what feels normal to some can be extraordinary to others. Gratitude for the freedoms we have is easy to forget, until we hear stories from those who have had to fight for them.
2️⃣ Trauma Can Silence You, or Shape Your Voice
Some experiences break people. Others transform them.
Farnoush shared a deeply personal trauma from her past, something that could have kept her silent. Instead, she chose to speak.
When one person breaks the silence, others often find the courage to follow. The response from women around the world shows how powerful it can be when someone finally finds their voice.
3️⃣ Beauty Opens Doors. Substance Keeps Them Open
Beauty can create opportunity, but it is never enough on its own.
In a world that often rewards appearance first, what truly lasts is substance — intelligence, perspective and character.
As Farnoush said, beauty becomes dangerous when it is a woman’s only currency. Doors may open for many reasons, but what keeps them open is what lies beyond the surface.
Honest, reflective and straight from the heart.
Off my chest and off the cuff.
Welcome to Off Track.
