The Longford Lecture 2025 | Dame Rachel ...

PRISON RADIO ASSOCIATION
About this episode

The Longford Lecture is a centrepiece event of the criminal justice sector's year. Run by the Longford Trust, a charity that provides opportunities for study and mentoring for people in prison and detention, it takes place at Church House in Westminster.

This year's lecture was a call for the abolition of the imprisonment of children, given by the Children's Commissioner Dame Rachel De Souza, who talked about the shocking links between children who have spent time in care and the justice system.

Also on the podcast, Angus Stobie, who plays George Grundy in The Archers, and Jeremy Howe, the series Editor. The BBC Radio 4 drama has been running for 75 years and this year received the Kevin Packenham Prize to acknowledge its portrayal of George's brush with the law and his imprisonment.
