<p>Une famine vient frapper le pays. C&#39;est un jugement divin, à cause d&#39;une faute commise par Saül contre les Gabaonites. Pour l&#39;expier, David va devoir leur remettre 7 descendants de l&#39;ancien roi d&#39;Israël pour les pendre.</p> 

Deux autres personnages vont venir à la rencontre de David : Mephibosteh, le fils de Jonathan et Barzillaï, le Galaadite. 

Joab va à présent retrouver le roi David qui a appris la mort de son fils Absalom. Et il va lui faire des reproches concernant son attitude.
