As Artie Abrams in Glee, Kevin McHale graced our screens for six seasons and we’re thrilled to have the much beloved, seriously funny and astute actor on the couch for the first time. We get super nerdy — and bring in head Gleek Kelsey — to dive into the cult of the culture-shaping show, the particular era it existed in, the unique bond of the cast and crew, and the tragedies they experienced too. McHale, who as a child dreamt of being weatherman and was once in boyband called NLT (look it up), hosts the podcast And That's What You REALLY Missed podcast with fellow cast member and bestie Jenna Ushkowitz where they rewatch the show and bring on old friends and colleagues. He opens up about what that process has been like, interviewing Ryan Murphy, the series creator and TV legend, plus some of the most iconic eps.
We had to open by discussing how he wound up embroiled in the Jimmy Kimmel (momentary) cancellation discourse, with a tweet that incensed the head of the FCC Brendan Carr, who responded with a gif of Jack Nicholson in Anger Management looking unhinged.
But the real reason he’s on the show — which we eventually get to — is he’s heading off-Broadway for the first time, taking part in the play The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which run starts November 7th. Go, go, go!
