In this very first episode of our new language learning podcast, we want to explain the concept behind this show.
This podcast will teach you German vocabulary ordered by importance. You'll learn the most commonly used words first and progress to more specialized vocabulary over time. This ensures you're always getting the most useful words for your current level.
To determine which words are most important, we analyzed over 1.8 billion words from everyday spoken German, literature, and academic texts.
In our regular episodes, you'll hear the English translation first, followed by the German word, then up to three German example sentences—each followed by its English translation and a repetition of the German sentence.
We will also publish focused episodes with just words and translations, plus bonus episodes featuring the most important nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
You may have or not have noticed but: all voices in this podcast, including this introduction, are generated by text-to-speech AI.
We do this to ensure the most consistent and clear pronunciation possible.
However, every episode is carefully reviewed by our team of language learning experts.
