Self-described as the funniest dude in his high school, Kyle Gordon hit the viral jackpot back in 2023 with his Euro dance spoof song ‘Planet of the Bass,’ inhabiting the character DJ Crazy Times. He’s collabed with Ed Sheeran, shooting a video with him at Courtney Cox’s house (we talk about this), parlaying his clicks into 2024 comedy album Kyle Gordon Is Great. He returns this year — both to the studio and with a new album, the wildly iterative record Kyle Gordon Is Wonderful. On it he parodies everything from nu metal to UK Garage.
In this conversation he shows up for half of it as flaccid-beanie boy Kody Redwing (think Mumford and Sons produced by fun.-era Jack Antonoff), before segueing into plain ol’ Kyle to discuss fellow TikTok hit-boy Brendan Abernathy, the genius of Flight of the Concords, and South Park’s Trey Parker, and his early years in the cult of improv. Trigger warning: nude feet are featured herein.
