Understanding Godly Grief

MOODY RADIO
About this episode

Today on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme of “Spiritual Detox” with discussions about the importance of taking accountability when repenting and self-control. When we come before God in repentance, we need to own what we did and humbly surrender to Him for restoration and healing. This is affirmed in Joel 2:25, where God promises to restore Israel after the plague of locusts, because they turned back to Him and repented. We then had a special guest, Dean Sikes, join us to share his story of overcoming sexual abuse. He also told us about the work he does with teenagers in trauma recovery and suicide prevention. Dean is an author and a speaker who travels the world ministering to high schoolers, providing them with words of hope. He also hosts the national broadcast You Matter Television and has authored a book called “You Matter.” We then had Drew Dyck join us to discuss the importance of biblical self-control. Drew is an acquisitions editor with Moody Publishers and a contributing editor for Christianity Today for Pastors. He has also authored several books, including “Your Future Self Will Thank You: Secrets to Self-Control from the Bible and Brain Science.” You can hear the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.
