DUBAI EYE 103.8
About this episode

Have you ever loaned money from a friend? Or lent money to someone? It's still a common practice in the UAE, when times are tough or you need an extra bit of cash to reach out to friends and contacts for support. But what can we do if they don't hold up to their end of the deal and repay the money as promised? Mohammed El Qahwagy - Senior Legal Consultant at AWS Legal Group has the answers

Shared accommodation can be a popular solution to the pressure of rising costs of living, salaries not keeping up, or even for some expats, loneliness. We talk to Danielle Hall how it works in Dubai.

With schools set to reopen in late August, debate is intensifying over whether the UAE should push back morning start times — a move experts say could boost student well-being but present logistical challenges for families and institution administrators. We speak with John Bell of Bloom World Academy about its benefits to students, parents and school staff. Sleep expert Kerry Davies also tells us the how a littler longer snooze time if beneficial to children.

On our middle health hour today, we discuss the recent clinical trial of a daily weight-loss pill, how fast walking is increasing longevity and a new study which concluded that smartwatches cannot accurately measure your stress levels, and may even think you are overworked when really you are just excited.

And on our series this week of inspirational people making differences in others' lives and as it's World Organ Donation Day today, we meet a mum whose son’s organs saved five lives.
