Episode 590: How to Cultivate a Growth M...

About this episode

What is a growth mindset and why would you want one? And perhaps more importantly, how do you cultivate one?

To answer these questions, we dive back into Dr. Therese Huston's fascinating book, Sharp: 14 Simple Ways to Improve Your Live with Brain Science. We explore the idea of growth vs. fixed mindset in relation to our own lives, learning to do things that once seemed impossible, from becoming fluent in a foreign language to mastering the art of speaking live on radio, from learning to play the piano to writing an entire work of fiction.

We also discuss the value of continuing to learn new things as an adult, and how having a growth mindset can make lifetime learning possible (and fun).

Make sure to listen to last week's episode, also inspired by this book, in which we discover that, contrary to popular belief, vision boards do not work!

Find Dr. Huston at her website or on Instagram.

***Katy's sister Dana has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 agressive brain cancer. To help with the staggering medical costs—her specialist is outside her insurance network—as well of the costs of temporarily relocating to San Francsico for her treatments, please consider donating to her GoFundMe. Anything you can contribute will be extremely helpful. Thank you.***
