Hay una serie de estudios que se preguntan quién dominaría la Tierra si el hombre desapareciera por completo del planeta. No sabemos qué nuevas especies evolucionarán en ese tiempo; de lo que sí estamos seguros es de que seguirá habiendo, igual que las ha habido siempre, bacterias. Y es que las bacterias siguen siendo, hoy, las criaturas más exitosas y más dominantes del planeta. Seguimos en la actualidad viviendo en la era de las bacterias, que están presentes en el mundo desde el origen mismo de la vida, hace casi 4.000 millones de años. Así que dentro de, pongamos, otros 250 millones de años seguirán estando exactamente igual.
