The Spice Girls 1996 and 1998

BBC Sounds
About this episode

In two separate but spirited interviews from 1996 and 1998, the Spice Girls talk to Simon Mayo and Zoe Ball. Their excitement at the beginning of their career contrasts with a more worldly girl group halfway through an epic world tour. In the first interview, they crash into Simon Mayo’s Radio 1 studio, animated about their number 1 single Wannabe. In the second, before headlining the Birmingham NEC, they chat to Zoe Ball about backlashes and boyfriends, unaware that Geri would leave the group just two weeks later.
