Dans les coulisses d'Amazon, une nouvelle génération de robots est en marche. Leur nom : Vulcan. Capables de manipuler des objets avec une étonnante finesse grâce à un « sens du toucher » artificiel, ces bras robotisés sont en train de transformer le travail dans les centres de distribution.

En Allemagne, Johannes Kulick, ingénieur en charge de ces machines chez Amazon Robotics, explique comment Vulcan fonctionne, ce qui rend sa technologie unique, et surtout, quel est son impact sur les conditions de travail… et sur l’emploi.

Loin du fantasme d’une automatisation totale, c’est une nouvelle forme de collaboration entre humains et robots qui se dessine.
