Here we go again! Carabao anxiety is morphing into cuppy fever at PotT towers with the mood enhanced by victory at West Ham (and Chris's negativity notable by its absence on Tuesday; something he more than balances out with one stratospheric stat).

George, in particular, while not quite upbeat, is certainly buoyed by his examination of Eddie Howe's working patterns and the after-glow of that conversation with Matt Richie. So much so that the appearance of his old boss, and the trauma it may have provoked, is taken in stride. That old boss, as it goes, is Tony Evans, former Football Editor at The Times, and now presenter of The Athletic's Liverpool podcast.

Even our correspondents are on good form, coming up with madcap ways Liverpool can have their post-PSG funk prolonged. This show should come with a health warning, to be honest. Side effects may include optimism...
