The John Gioffre Memorial Golf Classic held in 2024 at the prestigious Westchester Hills Country Club in White Plains was more than just a golf tournament. It was a heartfelt tribute to a man who touched countless lives and made an indelible impact during his time on this earth. Even though it has been over 25 years since his passing, John Gioffre’s legacy continues to thrive, especially through the John Gioffre Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship, established shortly after his passing, is awarded each year to young scholar-athletes at Port Chester High School (PCHS)—a place where John once had a significant presence. John’s memory is not only cherished by his family—his two sons John Jr. and Zaccary, his daughter-in-law Melissa, his granddaughters Jane and Daria, and daughter-in-law Kat—but by the entire community he helped build. The annual golf tournament is a key fundraiser to support the scholarship fund, providing financial assistance to deserving students at PCHS. The proceeds also benefit local causes that John would have been proud to support, ensuring his spirit of giving and community continues.
