Greek Language Experts
About this episode

In today's episode you will learn different phrases about the weather in Greek. Emily and Danae will first engage in a conversation talking about a day trip and then explain some expressions and vocabulary we use in Greek, when talking about the weather.

 Spring is finally here, and the weather is warming up!

D: Ναι! / Yes! These past few days have been really sunny and very warm!

E: Καιρός ήταν! Τι λες, πάμε καμία εκδρομή την Κυριακή; / It was about time! What do you think, shall we go on a trip on Sunday?

Πάμε μήπως το Σάββατο; / From what I saw, it might rain on Sunday. Should we go on Saturday instead?

Yes, let's go on Saturday. I was thinking we could go to Platamonas, take a walk by the sea, and eat at a nice taverna I know.

Check the temperature for Saturday.

It says the temperature will reach up to 22 degrees Celsius.

D: Σχεδόν καλοκαίρι! / Almost summer!

Of course, in the afternoon, when the sun goes down, it will get a bit windy and chilly. So let's bring a light jacket.

You're right. The temperature will drop a lot at night.

It will go down to 11 degrees Celsius.

Μήπως να πάρουμε και καμιά ομπρέλα μην βρέξει ξαφνικά; / So definitely a jacket! Should we also bring an umbrella in case it suddenly rains?

The forecast doesn't mention rain, only clouds, but let's take an umbrella just in case.

By the way, my cousin who lives there told me that it gets cold at night because of the humidity.

That's true! But we'll be leaving around 7 or 8 in the evening.

Is 10 a.m. a good time to leave?

We can leave a bit later since the days are longer now, and we'll still get plenty of sunshine.

Great! Let's meet around 11.

E: Ναι, 11 είναι τέλεια! / Yes, 11 is perfect! See you on Saturday!
