About this episode

Title: Whispers of the Past

Level: Intermediate (B1-B2)

Story:

Emilia has always been drawn to the antique bookstore on Willow Street, particularly to one mysterious book with golden initials on the cover: A.D. She doesn’t know why, but every time she visits, something about it calls to her. One evening, just as she reaches for the book, a voice stops her—a voice she never expected to hear again. Adrian Donovan, the boy she once loved, the boy who vanished without a trace ten years ago, is standing before her. But Adrian doesn’t just have answers about his disappearance—he has questions of his own. A forgotten past, a hidden message in her own handwriting, and an undeniable connection that seems to defy time itself. As memories resurface and the truth unfolds, Emilia realizes that some love stories aren’t meant to stay in the past. They are written across lifetimes, waiting to be found again.

Vocabulary:

  1. Vanished - disappeared suddenly and mysteriously.
  2. Unfinished - something incomplete or unresolved.
  3. Unfold - to gradually reveal or develop.
  4. Defy - to go against what is expected or believed.
  5. Haunting - something that stays in the mind, often in a mysterious or unsettling way.

  • Expresses logical assumption about a situation.
