About this episode

This week, we’re peeling back the Sharpie-stained layers of Speak Now Taylor, decoding the hidden messages of her emotional state, and tracking the timeline of her writing Red. The Speak Now Tour wasn’t just a showcase of ringlet curls and sparkly gowns—it was a live journal entry written in Sharpie on her arm, night after night. And girls, she was going through it.

From post-Gyllenhaal devastation to delusional fairytale princess syndrome, the Arm Lyrics tell the real story of this era: Jagged Little Pill psychosis in Omaha, hopeless romantic breakdowns in Pittsburgh, Joni Mitchell existentialism in Perth. This insanity was brewing for years. We love to see it!
