Israel and Hamas reached an agreement securing the release of an Israeli hostage held in Gaza and allowing the return of Palestinians to the north of the strip. 

A Gaza ceasefire, which involves a full withdrawal of Israeli forces and the release of all the hostages, has been agreed by Israel and Hamas. The announcement was made by the PM of Qatar, which helped broker the deal.

China says it welcomes the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas and it hopes for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. 

The Israel Defence Forces said that three hostages released by Hamas had arrived in Israel.
