WFO Presents - Windfall!

D.J. Sylvis
About this episode

Hey everyone. My name is Tina Case. I'm one of the producers here on Waiting for October, and I wanted to take a second, since we don't have a new episode this week, to talk to you guys and share a show that I have been really enjoying. And if you follow me on social media, you'll know that I have been - I've been a little behind on my audio drama listening. So I've been trying to catch up, and part of that has been listening to shows that, you know, I might should have maybe listened to when they premiered..? You know, shows like Windfall, the really cool dystopian sci fi show by the folks over at Rogue Dialogue Productions, who I love with all my heart and I love the show, but brain did the ADHD thing where it's just like, "you know, we're not gonna listen right now. I don't know why, but we're just not."

It ended up working out in my favor, though, because they just premiered season two, December 11, actually, so I was able to marathon the entirety of season one, which you can do too. If you like the episode that we're gonna share with you. They have a super cut in their feed. You can listen to it all at once and then jump right into season two. And oh, my God, they are so talented.

I love the way they are choosing to tell this story. A lot of the sci-fi/fantasy stuff, to me, feels very hard to relate to and very difficult to get into. I'm not a political machinations girlie, like a lot of that goes over my head. But the story and the way that they are choosing to tell it with Windfall -- they're telling it on such a small scale, focusing on the everyday lives of just regular people that are living in this fantastical world, right?

It's just - it's so good, like we follow these three brothers, and they are living on the surface of this world, which means they're kind of like at the level of probably you and I. They're just normal people. They are doing their best to get by in this world that is not made for them. Like, it's made to cater to the higher ups, the people on the higher levels and the royalty, those are the comfortable people, the people that everything seems to sort of be for them, and everyone else is just kind of existing? And scrambling to get by when the world would really rather not have them here. It's fascinating to listen to, and - I don't want to spoil anything, but like the ending of season one, you think you know what's going down. You've got your opinions. You have the people that you like, you have the people you don't like, and you really don't like that guy, and you kind of don't like this other person. And it ends and you're like, "Wait what? I mean, I still don't like that person. But hang on, what? What is happening?"

So I am sharing this first episode with you, they were so kind and allowed us to do so, and I just really hope you enjoy it. It's such a fun story. I can't wait to see where they take it. And it was honestly just such an absolute joy to be able to listen all at once and see what these character arcs did, and just be instantly able to catch up with what they were doing in season two. So we are sharing this first episode with you in the hopes that you will just fall in love with it like I did. And if you would like to seek them out and listen to more, and tell them what you think-- credits and transcripts and things like that are on their website at windfallpodcast.com ,they have a Patreon, you'll find them under Windfall Podcast in all of your podcast catchers, so --without any further ado, or fanfare, or babbling by me-- we would love to present Windfall podcast by Rogue Dialogue Productions, and hope you enjoy it.
