Marie Carlson was going through tough times battling her mental health when she met James and Tanya Flanders. James, who was the pastor of a local church, took Marie in and began helping her pay her bills and eventually allowed her to move in with him and his wife. All seemed to be going well… that is until Marie became pregnant. Rumors circulated about whose baby it was, but eventually, the truth came out. James, Tanya, and Marie were in a polygamist relationship, and the baby was his. After baby Grace was born though, things started to go downhill.
