In this Khutbah, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan explains the opening verses of Surah As-Saf, which was revealed after the second major military engagement of the Muslims: the Battle of Uhud. He discusses how Allah loves people who are disciplined and how the Muslims lost at Uhud due to their lack of discipline. The Surah mentions the Tasbeeh of Allah and Ustadh Nouman elaborates that the ultimate form of Tasbeeh is our prayer.
Ustadh also discusses three types of people that were in Madinah at the time of Prophet ﷺ. The first type were the Sabiqoon, the foremost in faith and action. The second type included those who felt motivated when in the company of companions like Abu Bakr (RA) or Omar (RA), but when they were with the hypocrites (Munafiqoon), they felt that Islam was a burden. The third type were the Munafiqoon themselves. Ustadh highlights that many of us fall into the second category, but Allah desires for us to strive to be in the first category.
