When Lizzie met Elias she was recently divorced, independently wealthy from her own business, debt free, and ready for this next chapter of her life. She thought Elias was also a business owner with his own money, but after the sale of his company his money got held up in an audit, and suddenly he was asking her to help him out until the audit was finished. Over the next 5 years Elias used this lie, amongst others, to scam Lizzie out of just over one million dollars.
