S2E12. The Financial Value of Tatreez

Tatreez Talk
About this episode

S2E12. THE FINANCIAL VALUE OF TATREEZ

IN THIS EPISODE, WE’RE CHATTING WITH EACH OTHER ABOUT THE FINANCIAL VALUE OF TATREEZ. What does that mean exactly? We want to talk about issues surrounding paying people appropriately for their work – whether it’s a tatreez class, a handmade thobe, or a tatreez art piece.

We discuss why proper valuation matters, the costs involved in creating handmade tatreez, and the role of educators in preserving this art form. We also explore the dangers of undervaluing tatreez and share strategies for fair pricing to build a sustainable market that supports artisans and preserves this cultural heritage.

If you have not yet picked up a needle and thread, consider this your invitation for the sake of understanding and contributing to the financial value of tatreez.

Disclaimer: These are OUR opinions :)

You’ll hear about:

            >> 1:34: Historical context of the value of tatreez

            >> 8:02: Breakdown of costs that go into tatreez, starting with a thobe

            >> 15:26: Deciding to learn tatreez and what to consider

            >> 26:00: Dangers of the devaluation of tatreez
