We showcase people who have retired early after investing in shares, or built their way towards property empires. However, there’s another, deeper reality at play: sometimes, investing can make the difference between stability and disaster.
Perhaps no-one better exemplifies this than Marion Mays – money EQ and IQ coach, and founder of Money Strong. Following the birth of her first child, Marion contended with a string of hurdles. These spanned from her transition to becoming a sole parent, to health and developmental issues which required her to be a full-time carer for her son for seven years.
Despite these challenges, Marion managed to stay afloat thanks to the financial buffers she had built for herself. Now, Marion is committed to ensuring other historically marginalised Australians have the financial tools they need to thrive.
