Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم was tasked with not only spreading Islam but also re-establishing the Hajj pilgrimage, a ritual originally instituted by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). To purify the Ka’bah and realign it with Ibrahim’s monotheistic vision, the idols worshiped there needed to be removed. Before the advent of Islam, the Ka’bah served as a hub of polytheistic worship. Restoring its monotheistic purpose was essential. This mission faced significant resistance, primarily from the political and economic elite of Makkah, who were deeply entrenched in the city’s established polytheistic practices and profited from the status quo.
