The title of this message is Do I Have To? Do you have to what? Do you have to obey God? Do you have to do what everyone else is doing? Do you have to follow your own instincts without knowledge and wisdom? Do you have to be under bondage and be forced to vote for someone you don’t want to vote for? The answer to all of those questions is no, you don’t have to. However, taking each question individually one must consider the consequences of saying no to each one. Saying no to obeying God is one thing, but using His word to justify saying no is a huge mistake. It could quite possibly be a decision that’s bordering on blasphemy. One does not have to do what everyone else is doing just because they claim to be Christians and walk under the broad banner of Christianity. Just because they profess Christianity does not mean that they’re in the will of God. Remember it was the teachers in the temple who didn’t follow Christ and it was also them who were the initiators of the death of Christ. They hated Jesus and His ways and they went a way that God never ordained. The parents of the blind man in John 9 told the Pharisees to ask their son, the one who had been born blind to answer about Jesus because they didn’t want to be thrown out of the temple. They didn’t want to be ostracized. They gave in to peer pressure because they wanted to fit in with everyone else which means that they rejected Christ. Don’t worry about what others will say, do or think of you because all that matters is what God will say to you in the judgment. But again, you don’t have to.
