Stewardship of the Entrepreneurial Cultu...

Martin Roll
About this episode

Séverine Mulliez and Séverine Tapié-Mulliez are cousins and members of the Mulliez family - one of the largest French business families known for their entrepreneurial spirit and culture.

The family controls the sportswear retail brand Decathlon, hypermarket chain Auchan and Leroy Merlin, a home improvement and gardening retail brand – to name just a few of the companies that you may have heard about.

Séverine and Séverine play active roles in the family holding company representing more than 1600 descendants.

Founded in the north of France in 1903 as a small business in textile manufacturing, Mulliez successfully developed its business into many industries and sectors.

Today, the activities span more than 150 companies and brands, employing around 615,000 people worldwide. All are organized in Association Familiale Mulliez (AFM), the holding company of the family.

Mulliez has a rich, fascinating history and heritage, and it is one of Europe’s legacy business families.

Séverine and Séverine share their inspiring story with podcast editor & host Martin Roll.

They discuss how to navigate generational transitions, manage family dynamics and generational wealth, foster multiple entrepreneurial journeys, structure governance across many family members, and make strategic value-based choices across dynamic industries to bring change and impact as an influential family holding company.
