In this episode I speak about the fires in Portugal. Last week, there were really a lot of wild fires in the north and centre of Portugal, and a lot of houses, goods, companies, and forest area burnt. People and animals also lost their lives...
I believe that the Portuguese Government needs to take some measures in order to stop this calamity from happening again. In this episode I speak about some of the theories that involve the wild fires - like the influence and monetary interest of some (wood and paper) companies. However, I have read more about the subject today, and I have also understood that maybe there are even other types of companies that benefit from this, more than the wood and paper ones. Again, this is not 100% sure, and I believe the government needs to investigate this further, and needs to put a stop to whoever benefits from the fires - if this is, actually, the case. Also, for sure more variety of trees must be planted, not only eucalypts.
