Militant Group: A group that uses force or violence to fight for their beliefs. : Hamas and Hezbollah are both militant groups fighting against Israel. 5. Avenge: To hurt someone in return for something bad they did. : Hezbollah said they would avenge the deaths of people in Gaza. 6. Commander: A leader of a group, especially in the military. : The commander of Hamas made a statement about the ongoing battle. 7. All-Out War: A full and intense conflict with no limits. : Some fear that the fighting in Gaza could lead to an all-out war. 8. Draw In: To make other people or groups join in. : The conflict in Gaza could draw in more countries from the region. 9. Heavy Exchange of Fire: A lot of shooting back and forth between two sides. : There was a heavy exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hamas in Gaza. 10. Arab: People from the Middle East and North Africa who share a common culture and language. : Many Arab countries are watching the situation in Gaza closely. 11. Mediators: People who help two sides talk to stop fighting. : Egypt is acting as one of the mediators to bring peace to Gaza. 12. Broker (as a verb): To arrange or make a deal between two sides. : The United Nations is trying to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. 13. Ceasefire: An agreement to stop fighting for a time. : Many people are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza to help the civilians. Hezbollah and Hamas are both Islamist militant organizations, but they operate in different regions, have different origins, and differ in some of their goals and strategies. Gaza Strip - : The Gaza Strip is a small piece of land along the Mediterranean Sea. It is where many Palestinians live, and Hamas, a group that controls the area, operates from there. - : Hamas is based in the Gaza Strip, where they control the government and have conflicts with Israel. West Bank - : The West Bank is another area where many Palestinians live. It is near the Jordan River, and it is often in the news because of the conflicts between Israelis and Palestinians. - : Unlike Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah is not active in the West Bank, as they are based in Lebanon.
