Belal El-Megharbel is the Founder and CEO of MaxAB, a B2B e-commerce platform that connects brands with grocery and food retailers in Egypt and Morocco. MaxAB has raised nearly $100 million and is one of the fastest-growing businesses in the region. Recently, they have joined forces with Wasoko.
The merger is the largest in Africa’s tech sector and the two companies combined will have a collective customer base of over 450,000 merchants, serving an estimated 65 million consumers across eight countries: Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia and DR Congo.
Before starting MaxAB, Belal was the General Manager for Careem in Egypt, where he introduced services like Careem bikes and scooters. He graduated from Virginia Tech and returned to Egypt to work in the family business.
