One of the few Sherlock Holmes movies in the public domain, Terror by Night begins in London, where Lady Carstairs and her son Roland hire Sherlock Holmes to accompany them back home to Scotland while helping to protect their precious rare gem called the Star of Rhodesia. when Roland turns up murdered and the Star is missing Holmes and Watson investigate, only to discover another murder.
