Nehemiah and the Great Wall - Part 2

Heather Crespin
About this episode

We continue the story of Nehemiah and the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Thank you to my mother for suggesting this story! There is a big celebration. The Israelites are confessing their sins and promising to follow the Laws of Moses and of God. They are feasting and singing. But then, Nehemiah leaves, and it seems like everything crumbles. Listen to what happens when he returns.

Joshua, The Gibeonites, and Ai

I had so much fun recording this episode! It's a new story for me which is always enjoyable. The story takes place right after the fall of Jericho (the episode titled "Rahab and the Scarlet Rope"). Joshua and the Israelites are up against Ai. (If I'm pronounc ... Show More

Psalms for Peace (4, 23, 27, 34, 46, 62, 121, and 139)
Friends... my heart is heavy. There have been so many senseless tragedies in the last few weeks. We know as believers that the world will get worse as we get closer to the end of time. We mourn, but we don't mourn as the rest of the world does. We keep the faith. The good news is ... Show More

Freeing Your Family for God

Friends, I always love preaching on the Feast of the Holy Family because I think the biblical message here is very surprising. We say the Bible is associated with family values, and indeed it is, but they're probably not the ones we would automatically think of. We see this in ... Show More

God Returns to His Temple

Friends, it’s easy enough to sentimentalize the Feast of the Presentation. But we oughtn’t to, because this story is getting at, if I can put it this way, a hard truth. And the clue is given to us in the first reading, which is from the prophet Malachi: “And suddenly there wil ... Show More

How Sin Makes Us Vandals

The story in Judges 17 is not interesting. It’s a bunch of trivial people doing kind of dumb, weird things. Micah robs his mother, but then he gives the money back. Then his mother cheats God. Then Micah hires a Levite, and then Danites hire the Levite instead. What’s the poin ... Show More
