عالم موسوعيّ، وُلد في نَيسابور، في خُراسان، ودرس في مدارسها. يقول بعضهم إنّ صناعة الخِيم كانت عمل والده، فنُسب إليها ولُقّب بالخَيّام. جمع بين الرّياضيات والفلك، والفلسفة والفقه والطّبّ، وكان الشّعر متنفّسه الوحيد، الذي بثّ فيه روحانيّاته وفلسفته الخاصّة.
إنّه الشّاعر غِياث الدّين، أبو الفتوح، عمر بن إبراهيم الخَيّام، وإليكم سيرة حياته، في حلقة جديدة من بودكاست "بيت القصيد".
