Il 15 marzo del 2011, tredici anni fa, sull’onda delle cosiddette primavera arabe, in Siria scoppiarono le prime grandi proteste, pacifiche, contro il regime del presidente Bashar al Assad. I leader dei cristiani fondamentalisti statunitensi fino a qualche tempo fa esprimevano posizioni antisemitico, ma negli ultimi anni qualcosa è cambiato e oggi sono tra i più decisi difensori del governo Netanyahu.
