On Thursday, February 22, 2024, 22-year-old Laken Riley was reported missing after she did not return from a jog on the University of Georgia campus. Soon after the report, her body was found in a forested area. The suspect, 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra, was arrested by police the following day. He has been charged with several offenses, including murder, aggravated assault, and hindering a 911 call.
