Qualified immunity has been controversial for a long time. Like any law or policy, unclear wording easily becomes its downfall. Despite common use, qualified immunity applies far past our law enforcement, it applies to every officer of the state. Qualified immunity has led to a lot of confusion in our court system, and has enabled abuse by government officials. What needs to change? And what do you need to know?
