Under the provisions of the Regency Act 1937, William, the Prince of Wales could assume the role of Prince Regent and undertake the King's responsibilities in the event of King Charles being incapacitated. Despite this possibility, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has indicated that such a scenario is unlikely at the moment, given that the King's cancer was detected at an early stage.
