Dr. Nazanin Moali, Ph.d, Psychology Of Sex | Couple Therapy | Sex Education
About this episode

Welcome to episode 370 of Sexology Podcast! Today I am delighted to be speaking with Natasha Helfer. In today's episode, we discuss the negative impact of sexual shame often fostered in religious societies, touching on topics such as: religious trauma, community expectations on sexual behavior and the shunning of self-determination.

Natasha Helfer is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with over 20 years of experience in treating individuals, couples, and families. She creates an approachable and safe space, often using humor, for discussing sensitive topics. Helfer specializes in assisting clients with interpersonal relationships, sexual development, and navigating religious or spiritual journeys. She is adept at supporting individuals whether they choose to remain in or leave their faith communities, respecting all religious choices.

Helfer is a seasoned speaker, presenting at national and professional conferences, universities, and hosting retreats, training, and workshops. She has a broad experience working with thousands of clients in both private practice and agency settings and is open to speaking engagements. She advocates for sexual health in marginalized populations, including LGBTQ+, religious minorities, and women, and works to de-stigmatize sexual lifestyle choices influenced by cultural, personal, or religious biases.

She offers both in-office and online therapy, coaching, and consultation services to a diverse clientele, including national and international clients. Helfer is also available for training and consultation with ecclesiastical leaders and mental health professionals on specific cases.

Additionally, Helfer serves as a supervisor for AASECT, guiding professionals seeking AASECT certification.
