Top 5 Books of 2023

E. Leikam, C. Klein
About this episode

Friends, just wow. What a year 2023 has been - both in the growth and quality of this awesome community and in the sheer volume of pages consumed on this, by now absolutely cemented into the number one world’s favorite, book podcast. We declined Guinness coming to give us accolades. Mostly due to BRK not wanting to promote a style of stress-reading, one must adopt to accomplish such an Olympian slaying of pages.

If books were enemies our fearless podcast hosts would be forever lauded in the Great Hall of Heroes rubbing shoulders with the likes of Drizzt Do-urden, Legolas, and Logan Ninefingers. Often Legolas could be overheard saying something like, “A yellowish sun rises, pulpier paper has been read this day.” A greater truth has never been spoken - which is why we let him stick around as it gets old fast. You aren’t good at prophecy, Legs - just correlating two totally arbitrary yet statistically likely events does not make you profound, or magic, or anything other than exactly what I thought it would be like hanging out with Orlando Bloom . . . But I digress, which is another thing Evan and Chad did with gusto and to great excess this last year, their tongues rising to new heights, no topic escaped their tireless wagging. This last year was an electrifying dalliance into Story, a decadent waltz with Words, an indulgent feast of Bookish Things of all sorts.

That said, it does not go without notice that without you, dear listener, and fellow book reader of yore, BRK would be as chaff in the wind. As such a final send-off of 2023 has been prepared - our gift to you, an acknowledgment of a synergistic book family without which our fearless hosts would be unable to face every new series with head high and back straight, drawing motivation and an iron will with you as the wind in our sails. You are the flame to our Crème Brûlée, the Peanut Butter to our Cup, the Milk to our Shake. With the likelihood of drawing too many boys to this hallowed podcast yard please accept this near-on perfect podcast episode, as a gift and final send-off of 2023.

Here are the top five books from each host in the year of our Lord, 2023. With no further ado nor aplomb, please enjoy the Best Books of 2023 and a dragon's share of gratitude for sallying forth with us ye brave Book Bender as we read on! Together let us boldly stride into 2023, fear a thing reserved for our creator alone, and on our lips and in our ears another exciting episode of Book Reviews Kill!
