Black Palestine

Uzma Jafri
About this episode

Vice President of Operations at Pillars Fund Kalia Abiade. Pillars Fund is dedicated to empowerment and support of Muslim voices. We know that Muslims have plenty of voices, but no one to hear them and no mainstream platform where they’ll be taken seriously without having to first perform someone else’s self-righteous qualifier.

Kalia was in Palestine tracing her family history when October 7th happened. Her chilling experience to get home is still being written in her heart and mind, and we pray she can make sense of what happened there. As we all are since. Connect all resistance movements with Black America, press accountability, and how to talk to our kids about oppression are packed in here.

In addition, as someone genetically endowed to lead social justice movements, Kalia shares the humanity of Palestine as well as the atrocities of occupation she witnessed before 10/7 to provide context of what that attack meant for all oppressed people. Her quiet wisdom is critical in considering our roles against all injustice, and to maintain humility while doing it.
