SLP 334: Make Someone Smile with Michell...

About this episode

‘That to me is part of the community. It’s about making someone smile. And if you can make someone smile, I think that helps every day. It helps everyone do what they do in their day. We forget to smile. We are so focused on either looking at the phone, or what’s going on, or thinking about something but when did we last just take a walk or smile? So, every day now I go for a walk along the beach, and I always take a photo. That photo doesn’t have to be of the ocean. This morning’s photo was three different coloured bougainvillea’s, together. But it means to me that you are looking at what’s around you. And that’s part of being in that community, you are looking at what’s going on around you.’ ~ Michelle Hamer

Michelle Hamer is passionate about improving productivity and encouraging change that adds value. To facilitate improvement in her clients’ businesses, Michelle provides education, assessment, enablement, and optimisation utilising clients’ software applications.

Michelle subscribes to the mantra ‘everything is possible’ and practices an engaging style that integrates business, education, and information technology knowledge.

Her hands on, down to earth approach not only ensures that her clients and their team are comfortable with and fully engaged in the change process, but her approach also assists in empowering colleagues she mentors within her client base, the various not-for-profit teams she works with, and start-up businesswomen.

Over the last 25 years Michelle has grown a strong global network of clients and contacts, assisting businesses at all levels. Her client list includes large law firms such as Dentons, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), Minter Ellison, Australian Government Solicitor (AGS), as well as organisations such as Icon Group and the Sunshine Coast Council (SCC), to name just a few.

Her definition of Self Love is self-awareness. You’ve got to be checking in with yourself and watching those triggers. You cannot give to other things unless you are in touch with yourself.

Her favourite quote is from Sandra Bullock:

“The rule is – you have to dance a little bit in the morning before you leave the house because it changes the way you walk out in the world.”
