Don't Fool Yourself

Vanessa P. Brown
About this episode

There is no way to develop a relationship and be devoted to someone you really don't know. Hebrews 3:12–13 which says "Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God ." This scripture comes as a warning telling us to "Be careful” or see to it," which means to pay attention. Why do we need to pay attention? Because our very own heart may be deceiving us.  Don’t fool yourself means to try to make yourself believe something that you know is not really true. Kardia, the Greek word that refers to thoughts and feelings, the soul or mind.  It is the fountain and seat of all thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes and endeavors. It is the place of our understanding, our will and our character. We must be careful and make sure that it is not sinful and I'm believing. Why? Because if it is it will cost us to lose our grip and turn away from Christ. This episode explores how we can fool ourselves.
