Sunday World
About this episode
A new fly-on-the-wall series following gardai on the beat in one of the country's most troubled neighbourhoods is giving viewers a window into ground zero of the drug crisis. Children groomed by drug gangs, living in stash houses and watching as their parents and grandparents are arrested for open dealing all features on the show, which is an honest-and-brutal portrayal of life in crime black spots forgotten by politicians and by progress. Today, I'm talking with Niall Donald and the Sunday World's Features Editor Daragh Keany on 'The Guards', a gritty new Virgin Media series, which is an eye opener to what it's like policing the lawless.
