About this episode

Professor of urology and Renal transplantation Mansoura University and Director of Mansoura Urology and Nephrology Centre

“Education and healthcare: a service or a right? This has been a controversial question for a long time. My personal answer to it is that they are rights for everyone. I was a volunteer doctor in Gaza, and I also traveled to study and practice medicine in England and America. I can say that wars have taken on a new form, and true progress and success are achieved through scientific and technological development. The medical service here needs to be addressed in a better way, and doctors need to read and learn constantly and stay updated with all the new guidelines. This is where the importance of scientific research and training of doctors comes into play because universities are not limited to teaching only. As I always aspired for the best, I established a kidney center in collaboration with my colleagues in 1983 with a generous grant from the Netherlands. We pioneered the technique of bladder replacement with small intestines, which brought us international recognition and attracted attention and assistance from all over the world. As a result, we were able to provide more. Success is based on the cooperation of everyone, not just the effort of one person. It is important to mention that a professor who does not leave good doctors behind is not considered a successful professor who has fulfilled his duty. And certainly, we are proud of the high-level service we provide, and that we provide it for free.”
