In our modern twenty-first century context, there are countless church consultants who—for a substantial fee—are willing to offer churches a “ministry health assessment.” However, in the first century, through an appearance to the Apostle John during his period of exile on the isle of Patmos, the Lord Jesus Christ provided a timeless evaluation of the health of His churches. Through a series of seven short letters—or “postcards”—originally written to early churches in Asia Minor, the Lord has given churches like ours His own divinely-inspired “ministry health assessment.” God’s perfect Word is always always timely, but Christ’s letters to the churches are particularly important for our church to engage with and understand as we embark on what we pray is a fruitful season of ministry ahead! In a new sermon series, Postcards from Patmos, Pastor Jesse will be preaching through each of Christ’s letter to His churches. The series starts with an exposition of Revelation 1:9-18, where we will behold the ascended and glorified Christ as He appeared to John. There, we will encounter a towering vision of Christ in His glory. This is the Lord who bought the church with His blood, the Lord who demands the purity of His church, the Lord who commends faithful churches, and the Lord who rebukes churches that have gone astray. Join us this Sunday, November 1, for the first sermon—“Prologue”— in our new Postcards from Patmos series!
