Imam Tariq I. El-Amin has been a local #1 Ironworker since 2007; he has also served as the Resident Imam of Masjid Al-Taqwa, part of the community of the late Imam Warith Deen Mohammed, since 2013. The unifying thread among Tariq’s work is the preservation of human dignity. Imam Tariq has been an active contributor to local, national, and international interfaith efforts promoting curiosity, dialogue, and cooperation in “helping to build the beloved community.” He is the former host/producer of Radio Islam (WCEV 1450 AM), founder of the Chicago Black Muslim History Tour, and the host/producer of the The Black Glue Podcast.
Imam Tariq earned a Master of Divinity in Islamic Chaplaincy from Bayan Islam Graduate School/Chicago Theological Seminary in 2022. He lives with his wife of 23 years in the south suburbs, and they have three adult daughters.
