It is adapted from the book by the same name and won an Oscar for the screenplay. Listen as we discuss the importance of family acceptance, grief, sexual identity and the trials and tribulations of being a 17 year old in love. We also explore family dynamics and the precarious balance of letting a child have just enough room to experiment while also being able to be safe at the same time.
